Thanks for dropping in, this collection is called Dolly Tots. I created these characters whilst sitting watching the TV, I wanted cute child like images that would be large on paper but eventually made into small stamped images. Almost like the film Bugsy Malone where the characters were grown up but played by children.   The above drawings are quick sketches to get a kind of image I was looking for, I wanted to make the faces cute and doll like so concentrated on the eyes and making the face round. Once I had the images how I wanted them I created the line art from the drawings which would be used to make the stamps. I scanned the images then printed them onto mixed media card and used alcohol markers to colour in the characters so these could be used for the cover art for the stamps.   Created worker images to go with the main characters.   Also a couple of frames, you can see the coloured frames are the original size and the black and white below are the actual size the stamps are m

So it's Wednesday 7th April 2021 and I'm actually doing my next Blog Yea me.. One of the ranges I designed for Dolly Dimples was Under The Sea, Charmain did have a previous range called Under the Sea with art work by another artist.  I was asked to add further characters to this range. Once I started I basically couldn't stop, the character's kept coming which eventually created an extremely large collection.  The above is the line art I drew on A4 copier paper, the original  sketches are in a journal book that I can't seem to find at the moment, quite frustrating but I'm sure when I'm not looking for it, it will appear. The line art will be used to create the stamps. Once I have the line art finished I then scan it onto my computer and print onto mixed media card. Once printed I then set about colouring it in, this will then become the art work for the cover of the stamp sets.    The two stamp sets above are A4 so you can see from my drawings on A4 paper to

It's been a while.. Well when I started this blog it was a good few years ago and I wasn't working as a DT member or designer for Dolly Dimples but I have been with them now for just under 4 years.  Fantastic family run company with superb customer care, Charmain Barrett is all about customer care, any issues just go direct to her and it will be sorted. You can find all their product's on their website dollydimplescrafts.co.uk and the new products are launched on The Craft Store (Hochanda)  Below is one of the images I designed for a paper kit that was brought to The Craft Store but is now available on the website. I'll be adding as I go along and hopefully adding daily old and new projects, just needed to get started as it always seems to be put of to another day.
